Eleven years ago the Urology Dept. at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Walnut Creek, California informed me that the biopsy and sonogram they had taken clearly showed that I had prostate cancer.

These results and their recommendation of radiation, chemotherapy and/or surgery devastated me. I asked if there were other alternatives. The answer, at that time, was that their prescribed course of action was the best treatment for my cancer. My next question was "...how long do I have before I have to make a decision?" Thirty days was their reply. I thanked them and said that I will take that time and left.

In those numbered days I read every book that I could find on alternative cancer treatment. I called the Cancer control Society in Los Angeles, California (a resource center for alternative therapies) who suggested several doctors who practiced in this field. Dr. Brodie, who at that time was located at Incline Village, Nevada, was my choice.

After my initial appointment with Dr. Brodie, I returned to Kaiser and told them of my plan to go with Dr. Brodie's alternative method of treatment. Once again my urologist restated his position. I was steadfast in my decision and asked him if he would monitor me with a yearly sonogram and PSA test every three months. He agreed.

I then spent 3 weeks under Dr. Brodie's care receiving intravenous drip system of anti-cancer substances, a variety of pills, shots and good counsel. This approach was to build up my immune system to fight the cancer that was a threat to my health and well being.

At that time, I realized that my life-style was a major contributing factor to my health and that I must make changes. I became a vegetarian and gave up refined products, all animal fats, caffeine and alcohol.

With regular visits every six months, I have maintained for eleven years a program of vitamins and diet under Dr. Brodie's supervision.

The results of this regime have been that on my last three yearly sonograms, Kaiser can no longer find traces of the tumor. My PSA varies between 1.5 and 3.6, well within the safe range.

I have had, over the years, four AMAS blood tests to determine whether there was any cancer in my system. They have all come back negative.

Eleven years ago I took on the responsibility for my own well being and found a world of wellness in the alternative side of medicine. This gave me one heck of an advantage.
