Insulin Potentiation Therapy
Insulin Potentiation Therapy (IPT) was originally developed by Dr. Donato
Perez Garcia in 1932 in Mexico City. This enlightened physician first
used this therapy to treat and cure a gastrointestinal problem he had.
After experiencing success firsthand he began applying this therapy
to a variety of other conditions including polio, neurosyphilis, cancer
and chronic infections. Now 70 years later, his grandson, Dr. Donato
Perez Garcia III, is the leading expert in this field and has helped
the use of this therapy to spread to the United States, Europe and Asia.
At Reno Integrative Medical Center, we focus primarily on using IPT
for the augmentation of chemotherapy in treating a variety of cancers.
We can also potentiate antiviral and antibiotic medications for the
treatment of chronic infections including herpes and hepatitis.
Cancer cells have an unusually high requirement for sugar and when blood
sugar is lowered by insulin the cancer cell membranes open up to receive
the sugar. IPT works by opening up channels in cell membranes allowing
for the inward movement of sugar and other substances like chemotherapeutics,
antibiotics, antivirals and cellular nutrients. By creating a chemical
bridge into cells, we can effectively get more of a given pharmaceutical
to its site of action inside the cell. In the use of chemotherapy we
know that cancer cells have six to twelve times as many insulin receptors,
due to their metabolic preference for sugar. These cells are far more
responsive to insulin than non cancerous cells. By creating a hypoglycemic
environment we can selectively drive chemotherapeutics to those cells.
This allows us to use less overall chemotherapy doses, about 10 to 20
percent of a normal dose, as well as sparing non cancerous cells from
the unwanted side effects of chemotherapy.
The Reno Integrative Medical Center believes in a multifaceted approach
to the treatment of cancer as well as other chronic diseases. Insulin
Potentiation Therapy represents one of these approaches. If you wish
